Social Subjects and RMPS

Description

In the Social Subjects and RMPS Faculty we aim to help our young people become active and informed citizens by developing their understanding of the world in which they live, both locally and globally. During their time in our faculty, pupils will learn about the beliefs and cultures of other people, discuss contemporary and historical events and issues, and gain insight into the natural and human environments of different places.

Careers

Social Subjects and RMPS equip young people with important skills and knowledge that are relevant for a range of different careers. This includes fields such as the civil service, conservation and ecology, education, law, media and journalism, planning, politics, social work, tourism and sustainability. The subjects in our faculty support learners into a range of future pathways from apprenticeships to further and higher education.

Additional Information

There are a range of opportunities for wider achievement in the faculty. This includes our Social Subjects Ambassadors programme for S5/6 pupils to help support the work of the faculty. We also have an active Eco Group in the form of One Planet Porty and a vibrant debating club
