At Portobello High School, our vision is summed up in our motto: Achieving Together. It shows how much we value working together — with pupils, staff, families, and our wider community to help every young person achieve their best.

We are proud to serve a diverse and lively community. Our school values of Respect, Confidence, Learning, Opportunity and Community are at the centre of everything we do. These values guide our key aims: to raise attainment and achievement, to support wellbeing and inclusion, and to keep improving learning, teaching, and the development of skills.

Portobello is a school full of creativity, energy, and ambition. We want our young people to become confident, interested, and motivated learners who take pride in their learning and make a positive difference in the world around them. With great teaching, strong relationships, and a caring and encouraging environment, we aim to help every young person reach their full potential.

We also believe that learning is stronger when we work in partnership. That’s why we build close links with families, local businesses, community groups, and other organisations. Our pupils benefit from a wide range of opportunities beyond the classroom — including clubs, outdoor learning, and real-world experiences — that help them grow in confidence and develop important life skills.

Our curriculum is at the heart of what we do and reflects the vibrant community we serve. It is designed to help all learners succeed and prepare for a positive future.

Portobello High School is a modern, forward-thinking school with excellent facilities, a committed and skilled staff team, and a strong focus on continuous improvement. We are proud of what we have achieved so far, and we are excited about what we can achieve together in the future.
