Faculties

Science

Description

The Science faculty is a thriving and busy department which caters to all pupils from S1 – S6.

Our approach is centred around a commitment to nurture scientific curiosity. Pupils take part in a variety of different laboratory experiments, project work, and look to real-world applications of their learning. Our pupils are encouraged to develop skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, creativity and practical ability.

Studying science offers pupils the opportunity to develop an understanding of the world around them. In addition, there are opportunities to discuss careers with professionals from the STEM community, as well as trips to broaden experiences.

Additional Information

S1-3 classes in the department are ably supported by our Science Ambassadors. These are S6 pupils who are motivated science learners who are keen to support younger pupils to have success in their science learning too. Look out for them in class.

S6 pupils studying science are given the opportunity to apply to become Science Ambassadors. This allows them leadership opportunities and the potential to gain a qualification as a young STEM leader.  Our Science Ambassadors take the lead in promoting science and study support for our S1-3 learners. They also support our S1-3 classes and use their knowledge and enthusiasm for science to help those pupils succeed.
