Skills Development Scotland offers careers advice, guidance and information to pupils in school, and to people of all ages in Scotland.
Skills Development Scotland can offer free and impartial advice on education, training, careers, jobs and benefits.
All pupils have access to a Careers Adviser in School and after they have left at the Skills Development Scotland Centre (Careers Scotland) on Shandwick Place, Edinburgh.
Portobello High School’s Careers Advisers are Jennifer Jones and Beth Urquhart. The careers interview room is situated in the school library. Jennifer is in school all day on Tuesday and Beth is in school all day on Thursday. The Careers Advisers offer 1-2-1 guidance sessions, group sessions; drop in sessions as well as attendance at all parents’ evenings and the school careers convention. Referrals can be made by parents, tutors, subject teachers and students themselves.
Pupils refer themselves for interview by completing an interview request form, and posting it in the careers box. These are available in the school library by the careers box.
