Three proposed plans for Edinburgh’s newest park are now being consulted on and YOU CAN HELP choose the final ‘park design’ and the name for the new park.
The shortlisted names are:
- St John’s – a name to link the new park to the primary school next door
- Treverlen – the original name for Duddingston, meaning “settlement by the lake of reeds”.
The Neighbourhood Partnership will make the final choice at its meeting on Thursday 17 March, at 6pm, in Parsons Green Primary School. Everyone is welcome to come to the meeting, but you will be able to let us know which design you like best before that.
Help us choose
Please, have a look at the plans and tell us which design and park name you like best. The three ‘draft park plans’ will be displayed during the whole of February 2016, to give folk a chance to identify their favourite design. You can see the plans during February at:
- Piershill Library
- Craigmillar Library
- Portobello Library
- Northfield and Craigentinny Community Centres
- the HUB – Restalrig
This is the last stage of the local engagement. Help identify what bits included in the plans that YOU prefer. This will help the Partnership choose the best design, and the park name in March. The design chosen will then be sent to Children and Families for delivery in 2018, as part of the new Portobello High School and St John’s Primary School project.
Thank you for helping us get this far
Between summer and end October 2015, people gave us their ideas and told us what they wanted to see in the new park. Over 2,500 local people of all ages had their say at events, meetings, or using the on-line survey. Edinburgh & Lothians Greenspace Trust (ELGT) lead the engagement. Based on analysis of all the ideas gathered, three draft designs have been developed. The three draft proposals were first presented to the Neighbourhood Partnership on 19 January 2016.
Thank you to everyone who has taken part, and had their say so far.
