S6 pupil visits CERN

James Parr-Burman, S6, was one of five pupils selected from schools across Scotland to join an official Scottish Government visit to the CERN.

Mike Russell, Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning, led the visit and was accompanied by Professor Anne Glover, Chief Scientific Advisor to Scottish Government. CERN is the world class particle physics research establishment and home of the Large Hadron Collider.

A significant number of scientists from Scotland are involved in the many projects that are taking place at CERN which was inspiring for James as he considers his future career aspirations.  James intends studying Physics at university next year and is being presented for the Science Baccalaureate.
