On Wednesday 1st June, S3 Standard Grade Geography pupils took part in the annual field trip to Stirling. Two buses of pupils and six staff participated in a number of activities throughout the day. The weather as always was a bit wet, but good fun was had by all.
Stirling and the surrounding area are a perfect location to bring to life many concepts studied in Standard Grade Geography. For example, the River Forth, industrial estates, the new farmers market and Stirling itself, as an example of a market town. This year, for the first time we had the opportunity to watch a live cattle auction, which the pupils really enjoyed!
Pupils had the opportunity to complete fieldwork exercises, which they will be questioned on in the exam, including conducting a questionnaire in Bridge of Allan. Giving pupils the opportunity to visit a different city and actually carrying out these tasks really helps improve their enjoyment and hopefully, their performance in the forthcoming exams in S4.
