On the evening of Friday, 11th December 2015, the Assembly hall was transformed into a sparkling cabaret venue to showcase the contestants in our annual ‘Porty does Strictly’ competition. This was the finale from a term of interdisciplinary learning work where pupils in all years across the school worked together on the project covering a range of learning experiences including dance, research, costume design and manufacture, learning about dance music and performance, interviewing skills, programme design, technology in media work and stage production skills.
14 couples, made up of both staff and pupils, danced the night away showing their skills in sexy Sambas, sizzling Salsas, cheeky Cha Chas and the odd Charleston, Paso or Jive. The enthusiastic audience were entertained through a pupil led production and a great night was had by all. Although competition was high, the worthy winners of the glitter ball this year were Lois Forbes and Cameron Johnstone who delighted us all with an outstanding 1920s Charleston. Well done to all those involved whether in the limelight or behind the scenes.
