The report advises Council on the outcome of the extensive consultation process which was undertaken. A total of 12,018 responses were received, one of the highest rates of response to a local public consultation in recent years. 70% of valid responses from within the City of Edinburgh area supported the proposed Private Bill with the level of support increasing to 76% when only those valid responses from the local area are considered. The number of responses received and, within that, the level of support for the Private Bill was overwhelming so the report seeks approval to proceed with the Public Bill which, if approved by the Scottish Parliament, would remove the existing legal impediment to using Portobello Park as the site of a new Portobello High School.
There was unanimous support from the City of Edinburgh Council to progress the Bill through the Scottish Parliament at the earliest opportunity. Click HERE to read the full report.
