We have a fantastic opportunity for a school leaver who is interested in travelling and wants to develop there customer service skills.

At STA Travel we are ready to launch our Apprenticeship Programme 2016 and we are looking for our new set of superstars ready to embrace this fantastic opportunity to enter the travel industry as a Travel Expert and gain your Diploma in Customer Service

STA Travel’s core customer is typically someone under 35 taking a gap year between school and university or post University. They may be travelling away from home for the first time and looking to tour with groups, or they may be a more experienced solo traveller looking for that unique experience trip that none of their friends has made. They may be travelling for two weeks, a summer or 12 months plus. The exciting aspect is that they come to us to create their dream trip of a lifetime!

Have you just left school and have a passion for travel? We are not looking for heaps of experience or qualifications, we are looking for dynamic individuals that are looking to learn as you earn whilst being a part of a unique travel company.

  • Working minimum 30 hours per week including a day on the weekend
  • A team player that enjoys a challenge
  • Customer focused

Our Apprentices nationwide, will work towards an (level 2 & 3) over the 24 month Programme so not only will you have practical on the job training but you will have some recognition of that learning at the end of your apprenticeship.

You will be guaranteed pay increase after a successful 6 months, you will be eligible for our junior monthly bonus scheme with a guaranteed global familiarisation trip, access to our benefits, annual leave entitlement.

Skills Development Scotland offers careers advice, guidance and information to pupils in school, and to people of all ages in Scotland.

Skills Development Scotland can offer free and impartial advice on education, training, careers and jobs.

Portobello High School’s Careers Advisers are Martin Brynes and Ruth Addo. The careers interview room is situated in the school library. Martin is in school on Monday,  Wednesday and Thursday and Ruth is in school on Monday. Our Careers Advisers offer pupils group sessions, drop-in lunchtime clinics and face-to-face coaching, where appropriate. This is supported by Scotland’s careers and information web service My World of Work (

It provides information on subject choices, exam results, preparing for further study, preparing for a job and Modern Apprenticeships.

There is a special area on My World of Work for parents ( where you can get more information or chat to one of our online advisers. If you would prefer to speak to someone, you can call 0800 917 8000. The Careers Advisers also attend S4, 5 and 6 parents’ evenings and the school careers convention.

The Careers Drop-in Lunchtime Clinic is available in the School Careers Room on Monday and Thursday.  Pupils are welcome to call in for careers information and advice and are asked to research careers using prior to careers appointments.

Vacancies and training opportunities for school leavers are advertised on The Edinburgh Guarantee Website and pupils can register on this site for job alerts. Vacancies are also advertised on library notice boards and the school website.

SDS Edinburgh also has its own Facebook page. The page advertises local Modern Apprenticeships, explains Skills Development Scotland’s services in and out of school, Careers Events and has useful links to our My World of Work web service. We would like to encourage pupils to ‘like’ the page and to browse the content. The link is as follows:
