Carol Singing at Viewpark Care Home, Portobello

After a successful slot in the school Christmas concert, the Portobello High School Junior Vocal Group visited Viewpark Care Home on Wednesday 21st December 2011. The residents were entertained with a range of Christmas songs and Carols and an enjoyable afternoon was had by all.

 

The vocal group are looking forward to returning to the home in the summer term to perform some ‘old classics’ which will be known well by their audience.

Prelim Examinations 2012

S5/6 prelims will take place from Wednesday 18th January to Friday 27th January 2012. Pupils do not need to attend classes or go to registration duruing exam leave. Please find the prelim timetable and important notes for pupils below.

Young Consumers of the Year

Once again a team from Portobello High School made it to the Edinburgh final of the Young Consumers of the Year competition.

 

Chloe Anderson, Claire Gilchrist, Greg Wilson and Ellen Earl Morton (Captain) bravely fought against teams from George Heriot’s, Boroughmuir, and Tynecastle High School but were beaten into third place.

 

Boroughmuir High School will now go forward to the Scottish Final to be held in the Scottish Parliament building in March.

 

Change to S4 Prelims

There has been a change to the schedule of S4 prelims that were due to run on Thursday 8th December due to the school closure at 12pm.

 

Religious Studies will now run on Tuesday 13th at the following times:

Foundation, 11.00 – 12.15, Room: A9
Credit, 11.00 – 12.45, Room: A9

 

Spanish will now run on Tuesday 13th at the following times:
Int 1 reading, 1.30 – 2.15, Room: A9
Int 1 writing, 2.30 – 3.00, Room: A9
Int 2 reading, 1.30 – 2.40, Room: A10
Int 2 writing, 2.55 – 3.35, Room: A10

 

S4 pupils who have these exams should come to school for these exams only.  They do not need to attend their other classes on that day.  For S4 pupils who do not have these prelims they must report to school as normal. If there are problems please speak to Mr Saddler.

All schools to shut from noon today

All Edinburgh schools will be closed today from noon because of the high winds forecast and the expected disruption to travel. School transport has been arranged to collect children at 12pm.
