We are delighted to announce that Isla McEwan, Kyra Skellett and Freya Hesse have been accepted for places at the Junior Academy of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow. This will involve them travelling to Glasgow every Saturday for music tuition, ensemble work and theory classes.
Congratulations also to Michael McGeary in S6, who took part in the RSAMD junior department guitar competition and was awarded 1st place. As part of his prize, he has been offered a free place to study with the world renowned Croatian guitarist Ana Vidovic at the 3rd Classical Guitar Retreat at the Cathedral of the Isles on the island of Cumbrae.
Two 4th year students, Kathleen Spence and Isla McEwan, have been accepted for the National Youth Choir of Scotland. Isla was awarded a place in the National Girls Choir and performed with them in the Perth Concert Hall in April. She has been invited to sing with the National Youth Choir in a concert in the Edinburgh Festival and will take part in a concert of the Girls Choir in the Lammermuir Festival in September. Kathleen will work with the National Youth Choir of Scotland Training Choir in July and will take part in concerts in the Chapel Royal in Stirling Castle as well as in Falkirk and Glasgow.
And lastly, congratulations to Isla McEwan in 5th year who recently auditioned for Scottish Opera. She has been awarded one of 25 places to take part in their Scottish Opera Connect programme, an eight month workshop programme which gives singers the chance to work with composers, librettists, directors, designers, conductors and orchestral players in a series of workshops and performances. As this is the only programme of its kind in Scotland, we are delighted that Isla will be benefiting from this unique opportunity.
