In 2014 the SQA national exam timetable commences with the first examination on Tuesday, 29th April and concludes with the final examination on Friday, 6th June.
For pupils who are being presented for National examinations at National 4 and National 3 level there will be no study leave.
For pupils who are being presented for one, two or three National 5 qualifications Pupils will be granted 2 days exam leave (not including the examination day itself) for each examination.
For pupils who are sitting more than 3 National qualifications pupils will be granted 2 days for each examination (exclusive of examination date) up to a total of 20 school days (it should be noted that examination days are regarded as days of attendance and Fridays are regarded as a half day of attendance).
We are working as a school to set up a number of options for our pupils who will be attending school during the examination period. We are working with our partners at Edinburgh College who are drawing up a programme of taster days, short courses and qualification courses in a range of curricular areas which our youngsters will be supported to attend. There will also be mop-up days set aside to allow in subject areas to allow candidates who have to complete assessments relating to their course of study. Alongside the college programme there will be a timetable of subject based opportunities in school to allow for learning and teaching to take place to support our pupils.
Much of this work is in the planning stage and further detail will emerge closer to the examination period.
