Key Skills Support

 

National 3/4/5

All students will receive homework at appropriate points in the course. Some of this homework may need to be done in school in the department if it involves use of music technology. Some of this homework will involve using the internet for research or apps. on an iPad (S3). Online sites are recommended for listening practice and revision (see list below under useful links).

After school support is available for performance and invention with members of the music staff.

Regular practice on both instruments must be undertaken at home; practice facilities are available in the music department at the end of most days and some lunch-times to students who do not have access to an instrument.

 

Intermediate 2/Higher

All students will receive homework at appropriate points in the course. Some of this homework may need to be done in school in the department if it involves use of music technology. Student copies of Sibelius (music notation software) are available at a discounted price for pupil purchase through the school.

Online sites are recommended for listening practice and revision (see list below).

Advanced Higher

Online sites are recommended for listening practice and revision (see list below). Pupils are also expected to use the City Music Library regularly and may also have to use the University Music Library.

Students undertaking courses in Music are expected to participate in the extra curricular groups and are encouraged to join the City of Edinburgh Central Ensembles
