Overview

Aims and Philosophy

Modern Studies aims to educate young people to become interested and active citizens of the future.   Usually described as “politics and a bit more”, it studies how we make decisions in our society (the government and politics bit), and then goes on to look at some of society’s problems, in Scotland, in the UK, and in the global context.

The departments main aims are for learners to:

  • Be happy
  • Be interested
  • Do well
  • Look to the future
